Chum Salmon on the Fraser

Like I said in the last entry, Lower Mainland fishing is the best. Ten minutes from home, Josh and Amber caught their first chum. Rods almost got pulled into the water but both josh and sarah were able to land two fresh chum.

Fall is Fishing Month for sure.

27 10 2011

You can’t beat the lower mainland when it comes to fishing and especially when it comes to the fall. Fishing for dolly varden, sturgeon, chum salmon and coho has been fantastic on the lower fraser river while bigger sturgeon are being caught in large numbers in the upper fraser. Coho fishing on the Vedder has been on fire, lakes have been lighting up with large numbers and large fish and steelheading rivers slightly further away is another option. On top of that we are not even talking about the salt chuck fishing.
Today’s report comes from Matsumura-san who was out fishing for some large sturgeon on the Fraser by Mission. In one day a few large sturgeon were caught. Check out the pictures.

The Kirby Curse is Lifted

21 10 2011

October is the month that should be recorded on the fishing record books as Kirby aka Gingy finally catches something after many attempts over the last couple of years. Carpooling buddy Bobber knew something was up from the get go as Gingy started the Perma Grin in Richmond and it lasted all the way to the last morning when Gingy landed the largest of the 80 fish caught. There is talk that this October trip might be coined the Kirby Classic.
