I might be the fishingbuddha but meet the fishing Jedi…. Yoda…gawa.

While most of us are hibernating in our homes and tying flies for the spring fishing season, Captain J.T. takes a break in Maui and hooks into some nice fish.

Note: you can tell he is a gillnetter from the looks of the body gaff on the tuna.

Before the Thompson fishery closed, Kirby and Buddha headed out to catch one more Thompson Steelie. Leaving at 4 am Kirby promised we would be back for the ufc fight that night.

On the way there, heavy snow even made the experienced fishingbuddha a little motion sickness.

Arriving at 7:15 am at Spences Bridge, the fishingbuddha hits and loses one steelie at Shaw Springs. After hitting a couple of more holes, the two ended up at Borax hole where the fishingbuddha hooked into another big one that snaps the main line.

In the end, two fish hooked and lost and a lot of big trout caught.

One day, +20 degree weather, blue skies, and great fishing. Three guys, five steelies and over two dozen trout caught.
