Crazy weather for fishing

29 04 2019

Dangerous drive this weekend hitting black ice and a foot of snow in the coquihalla, but managed to arrive safely in Merritt. Fished two day. Landed 27 between three of us. Experienced snow wind rain and sun in the two days:

First stillwater day 2019

Got to hit a couple of lakes over the past couple of days with some buddies. Overall an outstanding two days of stillwater fishing. Day one consisted of some tough fishing that resulted in our boat landing 9 decent rainbows in the morning. In the afternoon hit another lake and could not keep track of the number of fish we caught.

The next day we hit went back to the lake we ended off at the day before. Started off really slow but once the afternoon hit it was game on. Between four of us fish were being caught constantly. Many double headers and Mark the fishing jedi landed a beauty 4 lber rainbow. All fish were caught on chironomids and pheasant tail nymphs and at the first lake all fish were taken on micro leeches.

Looks like spring is here

The weather this week has been awesome and I feel like winter is now in the past.

Three days ago caught three sturgeon up by Langley.

Yesterday landed a six foot sturgeon in Richmond.

Today mark taught me how to Czech nymph and was able to land a couple of whitefish. Mark on the other hand landed 17.

Some steely flies that will also catch large cariboo river bows!

The boys hit the local flow and hooked into a few nice coho.
