This year marks the 24th fly fishing derby. As usual a great group consisting of 19 guys.

Over the two days fish were caught at three different surrounding lakes. In the end Scott brought in a nice 3.46lb fish for first place, catching this beauty on a Tequilla Boobie.

Orson came second with a 3.07lber catching his on a chironomid in a second lake. And finally Ron landed a nice one trolling with a vampire leech in a third lake.

Weather was amazing but fishing was a bit slow. Many of us ended up indicating and deep line chironomiding successfully in deeper parts of Knouff lake.

Haven’t had the chance to go on the usual fishing trips this spring. Nevertheless, managed to catch a few in the local lakes with my new fishing partner.

Well spring has come and ice is off but sometimes one has to pause for the family as situations come up. As much as I would like to be out hitting the chironomid hatches sometimes life’s situations pit those needs on hold. Nevertheless I was able to get out with my daughter her friend and my girlfriend for some camping, mindfulness and a bit of fishing. Although we snapped off two big ones we were able to land a few dangling Bcflytieguys guys mayflies even though no mayflies were hatching. Overall just a great weekend with the girls.

Good times. Learned some new techniques and won a prize.

Another great weekend fly fishing with some buddies. This year we had amazing weather but fishing was slow. Managed to get into a bunch on Day one on scuds. Day two landed a couple of boobies. Day three we hit a different lake but only got into a bunch of small ones.

Overall it was a great weekend.

Fishing obviously runs in the family. congrats to my aunty who landed this nice stripper bass while on the east coast. Well done! I guess I am going to have to find a way to catch one of these bucket list bad boys this year!

Well it’s hard to believe the week has come on gone but this years fishmas week included spending 9days of fishing with 7 buddies. During this festive time I was able to hit 5 lake trips at three different lakes, 6 river drifts and a ton of laughs. This trip also marks the start of new beginning for me so it was so good to spend this time with my good buds enjoying what we love doing. Although overall fishing was slow, some big fish were hooked. Ron (Wheels,Whirlpool) not only got the largest of the trip. He probably got the top two largest at 6-8 lbs. for me the best float was 50 fish Czech nymphing. Going to be a long haul until we return but in the meantime I hope these pics bring back the memories of this amazing adventure/
