A caribou River 2012 Countdown

13 07 2012

This year in celebration of Bob’s 40th, the crew is heading back to Horsefly to fling some large dry flies for large bows. In preparation for the trip, Matsumura’s been busy tying up some good looking hoppers. How does a guy like Mats with two young kids and busy fireman job find the time… well unfortunately in the off season Matsumura decided to tear his achilles. The good news is bellyboating down a river for 30kms is good physio therapy for Mats.

Nice Hoppers Matsumura!

Next summer…Kirby turns 50!

Kirby’s Curse is lifted again

13 06 2012

After being skunked for almost 14 consecutive fishing derbies, Elcombe decided to spend a day in solitude on Kentucky Lake near Merritt to break his dreaded curse. As we all know, only two things really get the Kirbmeister upset…missing out on a fishing trip and not catching fish on a fishing trip. Fortunately for Elcombe, the stars lined up, the weather was great, there were no equipment malfunctions and his dynamite was obviously working because he managed to land up to twenty rainbows using green and black leeches. Nicely done Elcombe.

Kentucky Lake in June. Looking more like a tropical destination. Some have been speculating that perhaps the fact the Kirby’s heavy use of sunscreen…aka Powder, could be the reason why he had so much success on this day.
