Stay tuned for Cariboo Fall fishing reports.

Wine butter and clams

15 08 2024

Ok this was a first.

Early today we checked out another beach on this island and came across a couple of fossil mud balls: If the dating of these mud balls are the same as inland, if there is something inside they can be as old as 60 million years old!

Clamming

14 08 2024

As a Richmonite, we might have fishing opportunities but not very often we get to forage for clams and oysters. Todays catch we found an open and safe area to harvest some clams and oysters.

Digging for about 30 minutes we got our quota of clams. Mostly butter and little necks.

Soaking them in freshwater to eat tonight as Rebeca has promised to make a Spanish clam dish consisting of butter, wine, flour and some herbs. Stay tuned!

Denman

14 08 2024

Now camping on Denman at a Hip Camp on a 140 year old farm. Amazing. Foraged berries today and planning on clamming tomorrow. Stay tuned. Also checked out a winery today.

Island three and four.

14 08 2024

After canoeing headed back to fish for pinks and coho from the shores of Campbell River but the wind and tides did not work out in our favour. So decided to make our way to hornby Island and check out Tribune bay.

Amazing place

Canoeing Quadra island

14 08 2024

Some people paddle around Quadra to Octopus island or Rebeca spit but we chose to paddle a lake on Quadra.

Absolute five stars for this trip. Only thing that would make it a five plus is catching some cutties. FYI we did hook into a small one.

One of the highlights of this trip was canoeing to a hiking spot and hiking to the ocean. Hence the reason there are ocean shots.

Next trip – taking a break from the mainland to explore and fish Vancouver Island:

9 08 2024

Well just left the mainland and exploring Vancouver Island/

Day one camped out at my first Hipcamp: This was amazing minus the noisy campers beside us.

Went for a walk to the beach and found out guys were catching salmon. This is when I am happy that I brought the eight weight and 5 wgt rods as well as salmon and stillwater flies:

Started tossing my homemade pink flies and within two hours landed ten pinks and lost a few more:

Brought a spin cast for a friend but no luck with lures:

Love it when impromptu shit like this happens!

Love BC and the variety of fly fishing opportunities one can do at any given time.

Now heading off the grid for a canoe paddle and hopefully tap into some cutthroats! Stay tuned!

Amazing trip consisting of flyfishing and friends.

9 08 2024

Nothing beats flyfishing except for sharing that experience with good friends.

8 days of fishing – five still water and 3 river days.
